Update thru 2nd Round

Update thru 2nd Round

OK dudes, I was slacking again.  Last night I was going to update the site, but had my folks down for dinner and by the time they left and I cleaned the place up, I had to call it a night.  No in depth analysis this time, just the results.  However,  I’m glad to see a Laker fan at the top of the pack now.  Go Lakers!

Results thru 5/16

Ok, I’ve been slacking on getting this update out to you all, my bad.  For all you Mavs fans it was a depressing week, as they finally bit the bullet.  Unfortunately, they had to lose to the most Denver Ink.  I was looking forward to a potential Dallas vs. Los Angeles battle to increase the fuel to the fire of our wonderful email discussion back and forth that oddly enough usually go back to discussing Cowboy’s Football.  Well, whatever makes it fun and let’s the smack talk continue, I’m all for it.  As for my Lakers, we’ll have to see come tomorrow if they got what it takes to beat a skeleton of a Houston team, that would have never made the playoffs.  It’s a sad day for Laker fans, realizing now that their team is not invincible (just like last years Finals against the Celtics).  Here’s to hoping the Dr. Jekyll and Hyde team wakes up, finds their identity and can win out the remaining playoff games to take back the championship and give the Black Mamba his 4th  ring (solomente sin Shaq).   That is if Lebron doesn’t fight tooth and nail for it, like he’s been showing.

Here’s a clip for all you Kobe fans (I know there are only a couple out there).

Ok, onto the good stuff now, what you all want to know, where the hell you stand in this fun filled tournament, for those of you who still care to follow for ego purposes (i.e. bragging rights).  The update is posted above in graph form and the standings below, as well as the bracket to show the actual results.  (If you want to see your individual picks again because you don’t have them shoot me an e-mail and I’ll send you your picks).

Joe, again for not knowing much (so he says) of professional basketball, seems to be pulling some sweet stuff out of his ass.  Props to Joe for remaining in the lead half way thru the second round.

C-los, this bastard keeps doing well, too.  Although now Joe has #1 all by himself C-los is not far behind.  Should be an intersting remainder of the playoffs between these two yahoo’s.
John, has picked well, very similar to C-los which makes me wonder if they made their picks together over a beer somewhere.  Nah, John’s to smart to fall into the Carlos quarter flipping picks.  I am sure he used some strategy, unlike C-los who just COUCHED it.
Jimbo, not bad for the NBA crazy man.  Still in the top 5.  Too bad that still sucks, you want to be #1!  I still have a feeling this crazy man will find a way to the top.  Why?  Because Jimmy does what he wants, when he wants!  That’s the Jimmy mantra!   Gay, but whatever, he’s charting his own course.
Brian, of course is up toward the top, and that’s because he’s a Laker fan.  He knows how to pick and picks wisely.  No jerking around here.  Although, we’ll see if the Laker picks pay off, considering they are going to a game 7 now, against a pathetic Rockets team minus Yao & TMac.  WTF!?
Matt, well he begins the bottom rung of those who chose poorly.  But at least he’s at the top of it all.  Good stuff Matt, leading the pack of mediocrity.  The Mavs will some day win besides in your dreams.   All I got to say is have a beer for me at the Byron Nelson next week.  Wish I was there, I miss that tournament, it’s so much fun.  Plus the weather is always awesome that week in Texas!  Yes, gentlemen I miss Texas!
BJ, nice work coming up the rear, I mean second in the losers bracket.  Unfortunately, your Spurs suffered from Old Man Syndrome.  But they’ll be back and you can talk more smack to us all, considering they have the longest playoff apperance in recent history and are consistent.  Hats off to the Spurs, they at least win championships, unlike the only other team in Texas that hasn’t.
Dan, wow this guy is a jackass.  He picks the Lakers and is 3rd to last, what the hell is up with that?  He almost threw his shoe and a wine bottle thru the TV the other night when the Lakers choked, yet again.  If they don’t win Sunday, we may need a ghost writer to continue these updates.
Chris, well we all know he can’t wait for the NFL to kick off again and talk up his beloved Chargers.  Plus, with the Ducks (well they were in the playoffs until the other night) and the Stanley Cup Playoffs going on, he’s been distracted.  That’s cool though because he always contributes to the smack talk.
David, you’ve been hanging around your brother too much obviously.  He’s passed the gene of mediocrity onto you.  WTF, get out of your funk man!  You’ll be fine, I think you have some good picks down the line, besides your Western Conference, so we’ll see what happens.
Adam, well we all know Adam hates living in Austin, but loves the women
and the night life.  Now that your finals should be done go have some fun and tell us what Austin is really like besides the long UT nights of studying for tests, writing papers, and the typical post-graudate life.  I’ll let this be your excuse for how poorly you’re doing as the returning champ of last years NBA Playoffs Tournament.  Austin still kicks ass in my book!
Travis, no worries bro.  You got a wedding to concentrate on, and I understand that.  Again, use this as an escape.  Looking fwd to your bachelor party in two weeks.  It’s going to be legit!

NBA Playoffs First Round Complete

OK guys, Round 1 in finally over and behind some of us.  Sorry BJ, your team didn’t make it on.  Don’t worry, they’ll be back.  As for any of you closet Celtics fans out there, better watch out, if they play against the Magic the same way they played the Bulls, say good-bye to the defending champions.   Oh wait, the Celtics are already down one game with home court advantage, not going to cut it Boston!

On another note it looks like the Mavericks didn’t know what hit them entering the 2nd Round, that’s not a shocker since they don’t make it this far consistently.  We’ll see how they fair for the remainder of the series.

As for the Lakers, they are sucking ass right now, when I’m writing this, so I hope they show up here in the 2nd half.  Otherwise, they are pathetic at home and Bynum can’t guard Yao worth crap so far tonight.

Here are the standings, let the smack talk begin!  Carlos and Joe, have the “SCOREBOARD” call so start dishing it guys, because it probably won’t last long!  As for the rest of us, we all suck!  And props to Adam for using the site and posting a comment, now the rest of you YAHOO’s need to do the same to liven this up a bit!

Go Lakers!

NBA Playoff Results as of 5/2

NBA Playoff Results as of 5/2

The pack is starting to separate, especially with the Spurs loss and the Mavericks advancing.  But the most surprising series of them all is the Celtics vs. the Bulls, who’d of thought the Celtics would struggle so much without Garnett under the rim?  Should be another exciting game tonight in Boston.  I don’t think anyone had the Bulls advancing, too bad, it would have made for some exciting tournament play in our bracket.  BTW, is anyone even reading these posts, if so leave a comment, otherwise, I’ll stop writing and just post the results to this website.  This was meant to encourage smack talking which has gone dormant in the recent weeks.  Granted not much has been going on, so I hope the Mavs advance to play the Lakers in the Western Conference finals to increase the craziness.  Hope you’re all having a killer weekend, and so glad May Day is over with, almost hit a few illegals on my way home from work the other day protesting.  You Texans know what I’m speaking of.  Hope no ones contracted H1N1 (A.K.A Swine Flu).  Cheers to the weekend gentlemen!

Standings as of 5/2

Here is a run down by individual stats of how they’ve done:

Carlos has stepped it up and forecasted the best, props to you my man.  Although you’re Mavericks picks will kill you in the long run, hats off to you for stepping it up.

Brian, again just like the NCAA Bracket is kicking ass, it must be something in the water in his picks coming out of So Cal, as for Travis, Chris, and myself we’re not drinking the right Kool Aid, obviously.

Matt, well we all know how gay this dude is, but he seems to be doing something right with his picks.  Way to step it up Matt, too bad your beloved Mavericks are going to choke, as always.  Although now I do hope it is a Mavericks v. Lakers match-up in the Western Conference Finals to let the shit talking resume.

John, is always the silent stalker, quiet in the smack talking arena, and does fairly well through the long hall.  Watch out for this sleeper, even though he also didn’t let his Mavericks fan hood cloud his picks.  Although his decision with King James team over the Lakers is a pretty big leap of faith.  But we’ll have to see what happens.

Jimbo, of course follows the same course as the rest of the delusional Maverick’s fans.  Although with his picks so far he seems to be contending.  We’ll see what happens in the long run.

Joe, for not watching and being that into basketball as he is football is doing pretty damn well for just guessing.  I think he’s pulling the Sicilian shark card and will pull some wild crap at the end.  Watch out for the Dallas Godfather to make a run.

Dan, just sucks lately, who cares about this dude.

BJ, unfortunately his beloved Spurs have reached thier peak and will have to make some serious changes in the offseason due to their seasoned team.  Don’t get down bro, the Spurs have had a long run and will be back again, I knew the feeling when the Lakers hit their lull.

Chris, well this guy is too into hockey to even care about this.  So, I’ll just say this, we’re not in Canada bro!  Whatev, go Ducks!

David, must have been drunk when making his picks.  That a boy, drink it up for your brother since he can’t drink.  Way to keep in the family.  Matt appreciates it.

Adam, the returning champ from last year is struggling this year.  What’s going on?  Too much talent down their in Austin distracting you from picking wisely?

Travis, well there may still be hope if something happens.  Use this as a distraction from wedding planning.  You could still come back, it’s still early.
