Tampa Bay Gets Reckoned With

Giants’ Gary Ruegamer congratulates teammate Amani Toomer after Toomer’s touchdown reception. Not being a huge Manning fan, I was reluctant to cheer for the Giants in this game but I found it extremely difficult not to when I saw how they were playing. Giants QB Eli Manning threw touchdown passes of 5 yards to Brandon Jacobs and 4 to Toomer. The Giants defense also made themselves know on the field especially with Corney Webster’s interception and fumble recovery, and Michael Strahan’s nine tackles and one sack.

“I think as a team we seem to perform better on the road,” Strahan said. “I didn’t know we won eight in a row. That’s a great thing, because when it’s the playoffs, if we’re going to go as far as we want, we have to win every game on the road.”

The Bucs however did not play the same game the Giants did.

“He made little, annoying third-down conversions when he needed to,” linebacker Barrett Ruud said. “If it is third-and-8, he gets 8 1/2 yards. That was frustrating.”

Now finished in Tampa Bay, the Giants are getting prepared to meet the Cowboys in Dallas next Saturday for the Divisional playoff round.
