Breaking News: Favre Traded to NY Jets
The Brett Favre Saga is finally over. On Wednesday night, FoxSports.com reported that the Green Bay Packers traded Brett Favre to the NY Jets. Just to make it authentic, both clubs confirmed the trade in separate press releases.
“Brett has had a long and storied career in Green Bay, and the Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for everything he accomplished,” the team said in the release. “It is with some sadness that we make this announcement, but also with the desire for certainty that will allow us to move the team and organization forward in the most positive way possible.”
Well it’s about time. Over the last few months we have had to deal with this situation that is all to similar to a nasty divorce. So how much is the alimony?
The financial details of the trade were not disclosed unfortunately. How much does a flip flopping undecided but not sure 38 year old QB get these days?
“I am looking forward to seeing Brett Favre in a New York Jets uniform,” Jets Chairman and CEO Woody Johnson said in a statement released by the team. “He represents a significant addition to this franchise, and reflects our commitment to putting the best possible product on the field.”
So the next question is: Who will the Jets be getting rid of? My guess is as good as yours but all the signs are pointing to Chad Pennington – the bread winner of the QB’s. In order to make room for a Favre salary, the Jets will need to create cap space to make this work.

He goes to the Jets, but with a tarnished legacy because of his whiny drama.

Woody Johnson indeed “cut the check,” and I am thrilled that Brett Favre is coming to the Jets. Go Jets!

I like Brett Favre and respect his decision to continue playing with the hapless Jets. However, Brett Favre has no idea what he has gotten himself into. The New York media is NOTHING like the Green Bay media which treated him like a legend and icon for many years. A few bad games (and there will be many of those) the media will be in his grill and poor Brett will quickly question WHY he came out of retirement. Good luck Brett!
